If celebrities and it-girls use it so much, it must work. Right? Let’s trust that this contouring thing is the latest makeup trend.
The quickest and cleanest contouring you’ll find
Don’t think that contouring can only be done with loads of product and strange mixtures on your face. Don’t worry about ending up with the typical cakey mask that’s obvious from a mile away and makes you think, "ugh, what a hassle." Contouring is just a makeup technique; you choose how much to use.
Some women don’t spend much time putting on makeup because they’re always in a rush and have "more important" things to do than spend 25 minutes in front of the mirror.
The contouring technique simply involves combining dark and light shades to define the features of our face. With this technique, we can highlight our cheekbones or nose and disguise the areas of our face we like least.
Step by step!
1. Foundation
Apply your daily foundation to even out your complexion and make it all one tone. Once you're ready and have added a little colour, contouring is very easy.
2. Contour
You can go to any store and buy yourself a contour stick. These sticks have a highlighter on one end and a shade darker than your complexion on the other. Something like this:

It’s perfectly normal to be reluctant to buy a special contouring stick. That’s why there’s a more homemade technique that has the same effect. If you don’t have this stick, apply bronzer with your finger to the areas where you would apply the darker part of the stick.
Draw a C shape from above the eyebrow (on the forehead) down to the lower part of the cheek. You don’t need to apply too much. Also apply it to the eyelid beneath the eyebrow and around the eye towards the tip of the nose (as shown in the image below, marked as contour).

3. Highlight
After defining all these features of your face with powder or the darker part of your stick, start with the highlighter. Use any light-coloured highlighter (even white or pale pink) on the following areas: the bridge of the nose and the centre of the forehead; beneath the eyes, right in the dark-circle area. Don’t forget to add a touch of light to your chin, as shown in the photo. Finish with a little blusher on the cheeks and you’ll be ready.
