ANA JARÉN
Ana Jarén is the artist behind beautiful illustrations whose style is instantly recognisable and unique. Works of art that portray scenes as simple as those from women's everyday lives, as well as others that inspire us to travel through the imagination. However, her dedication to the smallest detail is undoubtedly what has ultimately captivated us.

BL: Who is Ana Jarén?
I’m a 36-year-old illustrator. I was born in Seville, but I’ve lived in Madrid for years, and I now feel at home here. I love noticing the beauty in everyday life and savouring the little details.

BL: What do you like most about yourself?
I think it’s listening and trying to empathise with people. This has allowed me to connect with wonderful people who are now very important in my life.
BL: And what do you like least?
Shyness. I’ve been a shy person since I was little, but over the years I’ve worked on it. Meeting new people, moving to different cities and speaking a different language have made me a much less shy person, and I’m grateful for that.

BL: What does courage mean to you?
Facing the fears we all have. Taking the bull by the horns and overcoming the insecurities that hold us back. Being brave means acknowledging the difficulty of something that seems impossible to us and going for it anyway.

BL: Is there a woman you admire?
Dolly Parton. I think she’s incredibly smart, beyond the image she may project. Dolly has her own take on feminism and addressed controversial topics in her lyrics at a very early stage. And to top it all off, she’s now a diva, an icon and an idol to so many people. Dolly fascinates me.
BL: What's your favorite song?
So many… The one I’ve been listening to on repeat lately is Ill Ray (The King), by Kasabian. For some reason, the song fills me with energy and gives me so much strength.

BL: What’s your favourite Black Limba piece?
I absolutely love the sportswear pieces I own. I feel really flattered in them, and that’s not always the case with workout clothes. They fit my silhouette perfectly, and I feel like I’m wearing a second skin.
